Is Emmett Tap Water Safe to Drink? What the 2025 Report Says

By Honest Water Boise · Updated November 1, 2026

The short answer

The City of Emmett serves more than 6,557 customers from three groundwater wells. EPA’s ECHO database shows no violations in the last three years, and the 2025 report lists nitrate as not detected and uranium at 2 µg/L (limit 30).

Two things are specific to Emmett: fluoride is the highest in our Treasure Valley guides (1.56 ppm, under the 4 ppm limit), and the city’s inventory confirms that some homes have lead service lines. The city notified those properties directly.

Not listed in the 2025 city report. The 2022 report prints a value with a unit that appears to be a typo, so we use EWG’s average.

EWG figures are utility annual averages for 2021–2023 (radiological 2018–2023) from tests the utilities report to Idaho DEQ. EWG health guidelines are health-based goals, not legal limits. “ND” means not detected.

Lead service lines in Emmett

The city’s 2025 report says its lead service line inventory includes lead lines, and the city sent notification letters only to the properties where that applies. If you received one, the letter lists steps to reduce exposure, and the city’s lead service line coordination line is 208-365-9569 x7.

For drinking and cooking water, an under-sink reverse osmosis system certified for lead reduction is a practical in-home step while lines are being addressed.

Violations on record

EPA ECHO shows no violations for the City of Emmett in the last three years. The city’s 2022 report disclosed a monitoring violation: Wells #6 and #9 were not sampled twice for synthetic organic chemicals between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2022. Those samples were completed May 8, 2023.

Is Emmett water hard?

The city’s report doesn’t publish a hardness value. If you see spotting on glasses or scale on fixtures, a quick tap test will tell you whether a softener is worth it.
